Euro Integration process
Macedonia is a country that reached a consensus about the EU membership. Yes, we want to become a part of the United Europe! European House Skopje is going to take a full part in promoting that process. Our idea is to have a serial of workshops on gathering the experience that the Candidate Countries that will become full EU member in 2004 gained in their pre-accession period. Each of the workshops will address different aspect of the pre-accession like the assessment of the product markets, the structure of the economy, the shift to knowledge based economies, structure of the education, regional cooperation and development, market integration etc. The serial will start from November 2004.
Education
The target in this sphere is the youth in Macedonia.
The international project Europe at School will be introduced in Macedonia during the first half of 2004. Starting from September 2004, the project will run on annual (school year) basis, according to the time frame set by the European Committee of Europe at School. We'll spread the contest step by step from geographic and content point of view.
The education of the youth in "society failures" issues is essential for Macedonia . Every annual action plan will address different issue by the appropriate project that will be developed, like the anti-drugs and alcohol campaign, intolerance and urban violence among young people etc.
Sustainable development
Contains activities towards the essential and sustainable developing issues that are important for Macedonia , like the decentralization process. In 2004 we'll address the decentralization presenting the Bulgarian experience in that field, by performing the study research as proposed by the project Citizens for a better local-self government. We plan on giving our input in the implementation phase also. The previous experiences showed that the biggest problem in Macedonia is the implementation process rather then the law-drafting process. The following years we'll the same issue by realizing a regional study research exchange project, in Central and Eastern Europe.
Culture and promotion
Euro Culture Club is an integral project that contains the real meaning of a House of Europe. The project consists of the following elements:
- library containing literature about the European processes, EU, European institutions, International organizations etc. The library will provide free membership for all the citizens interested to use the literature.
- reading-room for the use of the library;
- internet access - several PC's that will provide internet access for the use of the members and the interested citizens
- cafeteria - a place that will offer a wide specter of daily European newspapers, and a good, comfortable place to read them whit a good coup of coffee.
The idea is to create a weekly TV show (on some of the national TV stations in Macedonia ) where will have interviews and discussions whit competent domestic and foreign quests.
There cultural part will be DVD projections of European-made movies in the evenings. Cultural events of any kind that promotes the european Culture will be supported and will be performed in the Club.
The annual celebration of the Day of Europe, May 9 th, is a long-term and sustainable idea. The events will be organised in co-operation with other interested parties, so we'll be coordinated together and will avoid the partial uncoordinated actions.
Co-operation
We plan to apply for a membership in FIME-the international federation of the European Houses. We want to become a full member of the FIME international family. The candidate membership will start in 2004.
